This section is addressed to private owners, amateur or professional boat builders, as well as professional yacht designers wishing to complement their team.
Be it for Racing and Cruising purposes, FoX Technology gathers skilled Engineers, naval architects and interior designers, as well as adapted technological tools, in order to achieve the best results
Project Schedule:
- Establishment of the design Brief, following several meetings and discussions with the owner. Presentation of a first draft.
- Project proposal defining the dimensions of the boat, its interior arrangement, deck layout, sail plan and appendage set. A preliminary weight estimate and a short study of the structural design and calculations are also provided.
- Final project including the required set of plans, the necessary electronic files if CNC techniques are to be used, homologation and certification files.
- Follow up of yacht construction; we also take part in the design of the rig and of the range of sails.
- Sea Trials and Tuning of the yacht.
Yacht engineering:
This section is addressed to racing teams or professional yacht designers/builder wishing to hire skilled engineer/technicians on a particular project to complement their experience.
FoX can deal with research, development and optimisation of:
- Sail plans,
- Appendages,
- Deck layout,
- Hull lines,
- Structural design
Our services also include assistance and/or realisation of studies involving the following testing and optimisation techniques:
Towing Tank / Wind Tunnel / Trials test
Be it to improve the performances of an existing racing yacht or to assist with the design of a new one, FoX Technology has the skills to perform Towing Tank and/or Wind Tunnel experiment and results analysis for performance optimisation purposes.
CFD Simulations
Engineers at FoX Technology are experienced in using CFD tools, such as inviscid panel codes and RANS flow solvers for hull, appendage or sail performance optimisation.
Besides the use for internally developed design or engineering projects, our engineers are happy to offer their skills and services for consultancy. FoX Technology is currently looking at the utility of the code OpenFoam for applications in our range of activities.
Structural Design and Calculations
FoX Technology can perform the structural design and calculations according to the ABS and ISO 12.215 regulations on sailing yacht projects. Analyses requiring the use of FEA methods can be undertaken on some projects if necessary.
